DANIEL MARKS

Musical Director/Assistant Director/Recording Technician

Daniel started acting at the age of three and made his West End Debut at just six years old as Chip in 'Beauty and the Beast' (Dominion Theatre), and subsequently as Max in 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' (London Palladium.) After appearing in numerous television adverts, films, dramas and amateur productions, Dan decided to put his acting career on hold and focus on music instead. He studied Drum Kit, Percussion and Piano at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he won the Accolade, Junior Guildhall's most prestigious award. He is a Grade Eight Percussionist and Kit Player, and also a singer and pianist. He gained experience musically directing many amateur shows such as 'Les Miserables', 'Shrek', 'Grease', and 'Footloose'. Now a second year Creative Music Technology student at Surrey University, Dan is heavily involved with the music societies and has musically directed productions of 'Songs for a New World' and 'Fame.' Dan is looking to pursue a career in theatre and teaching, and hopes to conduct in the West End.

PETER SIMS

Head of Production/Lighting Designer

An Electronic Engineering student at the University of Surrey, Peter has been involved with the technical side of theatre since his early teens. He acted as technical advisory in an amatuer production of 'Fame' and has gained experience in both lighting and sound, acting as Assistant Lighting Director for a production of 'Guys and Dolls', and as Sound Engineer for the premiere of the musical  'Make Believe The Musical' (The Kenton Theatre), working alongside West End Professionals and collaborating with a professional production team. More recently Peter was Lighting Designer for the University of Surrey's production of 'Songs For a New World', as well as co-ordinating the lighting for Surrey Art Live and the sound for 'Just Like a Woman.' Peter is looking forward to the technical challenges of taking a show to the Fringe.

During his first year at the University of Surrey studying Music and Sound Recording (the Tonmeister degree), Jonny has got fully involved with sound engineering in musicals, including Fame and Songs For A New World for the musical theatre society, as well as having previously carried out sound for shows such as The Wizard of Oz, Smike and High Society at local theatres and secondary school. 

 

 

              LOUISA PAYNE

Violin

Louisa is currently studying Music at the University of Surrey. She has grade 8 in both violin and piano. She has recently played in shows such as Parade, Fiddler on the Roof, Spring Awakening and Love Story. She has also done session work recording tracks for artists such as Angel and Wretch 32, and also appearing with Angel on Radio 1Xtra in November.

 

Vincent Godfrey, is a third year music student at University of Surrey. Second, Eb and bass clarinettist in the University Orchestra. Previous member of CCVG Big Band, Wind Band and Orchestra, which have travelled globally. He performed in Carnegie Hall for the 2010 New York Wind Band Festival. Other instruments include, Alto and Bari Sax. He has performed recently in various musicals in Surrey and London including Fiddler on the Roof, Jekyll and Hyde and The Witches of Eastwick.

Having played with Sutton Symphony Orchestra, University of Surrey Symphony Orchestra, and soloing with Croydon Youth Orchestra, Gareth Loh has studied Cello with Julia Debrulais, and now studies under David Burrowes at the University of Surrey. He also has been in high demand as a reed multi-instrumentalist, specialising in Clarinet, Flute, and a jazz saxophone. His recent shows credits include West Side Story, Hairspray, Fame and Witches of Eastwick.
 

               OLI PONT

            Bass guitar

Oli is a musician, singer, and actor, having started music tuition at the age of 5 with the recorder and piano, followed by the oboe at age 7.  He has studied with the Royal Schools of Music, of which he is now a licentiate.  Oli holds grade eight performance in many instruments including piano, oboe, tuba, and bass guitar and plays nine instruments at a professional level.  Oli is currently working towards two FRSM diplomas in oboe and piano performance and has played for a number of orchestras in London and South-East England over the past ten years.  Credits include Surrey County Youth Orchestra (Oboe, Tuba), Guildford Symphony Orchestra (Oboe), and Godalming Brass (Tuba), in addition to a number of on- and off- West-End performances.  Oli has both musically directed and appeared on stage in a number of productions since the age of 8, most recently playing the role of Angel in ‘RENT’ (UniS Musical Theatre Society).  Oli is currently studying for his Masters in Audio Electronic Engineering at the University of Surrey.  He is looking forward to performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for the first time, and hopes it is the first of many.

                  ALEX HOWE

Alex is a student, about to enter his third year studying Creative Music Technology at the University of Surrey. He has taken part in a number of musicals as part of the university's Musical Theatre Society, including roles as assistant musical director and pianist for "Songs For A New World" and "Fame". Alex will be playing keys 2 for "Slaves Of The Kingdom" and has thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the entire process, from auditions to final performance.

        PETE HOBBS

Pete is a twenty year old musician originally from Leicestershire, now currently living in Guildford, Surrey studying 'Contemporary Music Performance' with a focus on drums at 'The Academy of Contemporary Music', studying under some of the best musicians in the world. He has been playing in bands and therefore gigging around the country regularly since the age of twelve, playing with a wide array of different groups. These ranger from big band orchestras to blues/r'n'b to folk. Pete has performed  popular festivals such as 'The Great Escape', 'Beach Break Live' and 'Redfest'.
